Why the Bordet News ?

We want to inform people about what is really happening in our cancer Institute : its novelties, strong points, its efforts to maintain its worth and its renown next to other international centres, its interrelations with them, but also its weak points and gaps in order to find the best solution for them.
We also want to personalize the events as well as the responsibilities and prerogatives of everyone who works in it and to hand over to both researchers and care givers.

The difficulty lies in satisfying the reader because, in fact, the Bordet News is intended for very different people.
First, our donors and those who support the Jules Bordet Institute, thanks to their donation or voluntary work.
Second, the Bordet News is intended for general practitioners and specialists, interested in oncology : They can find useful information for their daily practice in it, know what the Bordet Institute can offer to the patient as a diagnosis or treatment complement and, therefore, consider it as a reference centre.
Thanks to our newspaper people can make themselves known within the Institute : Sometimes, because of the complexity of the buildings and the number of people working in the Institute, it is very difficult to know "who is who" and "who does what".
The Bordet News announces the activities of the "Friends" : great scientific or cultural events in the future or in the past, the campaigns, the tombola, and finally gossip…

We can wonder whether the Bordet News reaches the goals it has set : isn't it, for "the average citizen" too forbidding or incomprehensible and, conversely, for the doctor, too frugal or incomplete ?
On the whole, no serious criticism reached our ears, instead, it was rather cheers and expressions of interest.

The Bordet News is not given to anybody : It is offered to those who ask for it and to those who show their support through a donation, even a tiny one.

The page charge is reduced to a minimum because the authors are voluntaries.
Its issue is ensured by the copy desk of the "Friends" and its printing is often sponsored.
