Journal du Réseau Cancer de l'ULB
The Journal of the ULB’s Cancer Network
Presentation
ULB means "Université Libre de Bruxelles"
The "Journal du Réseau Cancer de l'ULB" is a Belgian journal which mainly aims to promote clinical research within the ULB’s cancer network. This journal is mainly edited in French.
Why creating a new journal in cancerology?
Clinical research is essential to make some progress in cancerology. It’s the only method that enables to put on the market an active drug. Moreover, it is the only way for the patients to benefit from a new potentially active drug, often way before its marketing authorization.
We believe it’s important to inform the medical community about the strategies we use to fight cancer and how clinical research is inserted in the project.
We believe that a journal that encourages clinical research has to include approaches that are separately treated in traditional journals such as methodology of clinical studies, recommendations, new drugs, translational research, ethical aspects, quality of life, new legislation on clinical trials, the patient’s point of view and that of the pharmaceutical industry.
The journal has the format of a journal of modern information : articles of short editorial type, regarding all the aspects of cancerology, written by experts and including clinical cases, ongoing studies, photos.
There are 3 publications a year for the current project. This testing period will enable to determine whether this publication is successful or not.
We hope the journal will be introduced in our professional lives as an essential tool to the understanding of the world of oncology, to a better utilisation of the available resources, with the final objective to give our patients the best care.
