Charter of the Patient

Dear Sir or Madam,

 

One of the hospitals that make up the Iris network will look after you of you.
Thank you for your trust.
The network is made up of five hospitals spread out over ten sites. They all have a common philosophy and share the same values of humanism, solidarity and openness.
The ten sites were kept in the Brussels Region in order to stay close to the people and their needs.
There will always be a public hospital near you.
The staff at the 10 sites wish to offer the same quality of care and welcome to everyone (regardless of their condition, origin, state of health, philosophical or religious beliefs).

 
Why was a Patient's Charter created ?

We wish to create with you a positive and meaningful dialogue based on mutual respect.
The staff have therefore embrassed the following principles and commitments, and are hoping for your "active" collaboration and participation in return.

Us : The Iris network hospitals will always endeavour to :

1) provide you with quality care by making use of all the technical progress and human resources at their disposal.
2) preserve your physical and -moral integrity as well as your privacy.
3) treat you at all times with consideration and respect.
4) promote a global taking charge, that is to say a medical, psychosocial and human one; and ensuring the handover to extra-hospital services and to your family doctor.
5) ensure that you have received clear and understandable information.
6) ensure the confidentiality of all your medical details, as well as any other information we may have on you.
7) give you the opportunity of accepting or refusing a treatment, a decision taken entirely by yourself or by any person legally appointed representing you.
8) give you the opportunity of consulting your medical record according to the legal tendencies and the procedures used in the concerned institution
9) enable you to clearly identify your interlocutors.
10) give you as accurately as possible an estimate of the costs involved for the treatment given.
11) ensure the clarity of the invoice.
12) record and take into account your remarks, suggestions, proposals and/or complaints.

You : To help us, we ask you :

1) to collaborate and participate throughout the care
2) to respect the privacy and well-being of the other patients, of the staff and its work and the equipment.
3) to establish positive and good relationship (especially concerning care, human relationship, payment of the bill, and so on)
4) to respect the rules relative to the well organisation of the institution (schedule, visits, silence, consumption, the banning of smoking, and so on).

Throughout your care we want to ensure the most adequate services to your needs, with due regard to the quality of the work.
We hope your stay at the hospital will be as comfortable as possible and that you will feel satisfied with the care and support that we provide you.
