Once a year, the "Friends" write to those who, in the past, showed interest in our action in order to inform them about the use of the funds collected.
The donations gathered on the occasion of a marriage, birthday, death, …represent a great part of the funds collected.
Each donor receives the Bordet News (see "Bordet News" heading).
Note : The data connected with your donation are necessary for their processing and appear in our file. This file exclusively belongs to the "Friends" and will not be sold to an external body. In accordance with the law of the 8.12.92, you are entitled to have access to the data about you and to claim their modification.

 

Legacies

The legacies represent a considerable source of funds for the "Friends" of the Bordet Institute. These are treated with a lot of discretion.

 

A. Kinds of legacies

Among the legacies we can benefit from, it is necessary to distinguish :

• Legacy by particular title: we inherit a fortune or a specific possession.
• Universal legacy : we inherit all the deceased's possessions (except some specific possessions intended for other beneficiaries).
• Residuary legacy: the deceased wants to divide his possessions into given shares and distribute them among different persons and associations. One of the shares is intended for us.
  The testator can also decide to divide his possessions differently: several legacies by particular title and several universal shares. He has to remember that the law makes provision for shares for forced heirs (who are the closest members of his family).

We strongly advise any generous donor to consult his notary and to give him his testament. It assures him that his will will be respected and that his testament will not get lost.

B. What happens when we receive a legacy ?

As soon as we know that there is a legacy, we examine the course of performance of the testament with the notary chosen by the deceased. According to the total of the legacy, the "Friends" have to meet some administrative formalities. Then we will be allowed to use the legacy.
Moreover, the testator is at liberty to specify the object or the use of his legacy.

C. Conclusion
In order to draw up a valid testament, some rules are to be respected. If we cannot ask a notary for advice, we can give you testament frameworks. We can also see you if you make a request, without any commitment on your part and without being obliged to tell us your precise intentions.

 

Tombola

For more than 30 years, each year, the "Friends" of the Bordet Institute have organised a tombola for the general public. Now, this tombola is a traditional link between the "Friends" and those who want to contribute to its humanitarian aid. In the same time, they might be lucky and win one of the numerous prizes of the tombola.
