General Information
Cash and valuables
The Institute Jules Bordet is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to any of the objects you may have with you. During your hospital stay, avoid having jewellery, valuables, checks or large amounts of cash. If you so desire, your valuables can be desposited with the Admissions Office.
Visiting hours
Visiting hours are from 13:00 h p.m. until 20:00 h p.m.
For your own comfort, we advise you to remind your family and friends :
-Visiting hours have to be strictly respected
- Extended visits might risk tiring you
- Outside visiting hours you can always receive and make phone calls
Attention :
- Visiting hours during intensive care are limited and will be adapted to the patient's wellbeing (ASTI intensive care for non-surgery patients)
- Visiting hours during intensive care for surgery patients : 13:30 h p.m. 14:00 h pm and from 19:00 h p.m. 19:30 h p.m. (Service RESI)
Moral, philosophical and religious support :
Your philosophical or religious convictions will be scrupulously respected. A visit by a priest, a minister of your choice or a laic will be done according to your express request that should be mentioned at your admission to the hospital.
Recommendations
No smoking anywhere in the hospital
Cigarettes are dangerous for your health and the health of others. It is formally prohibited to smoke within the area of the Institute.
Flowers and potted plants
For reasons of hospital hygiene only cut flowers are admitted in hospital rooms.
Intensive care units do NOT authorize flowers.
When leaving your room for short periods
If you want to leave your room, make sure to inform the office of the head nurse.
During your absence, you could miss a medical exam, a visit or a phone call.
Informatics and medical secrecy
Some of the medical information concerning your case will be computerized.
We guarantee absolute confidentiality.
Practical advice
The boutique
- It is located :
On the first floor (not far from the Admission of hospitalisation)
- Working hours :
7:30 a.m. 18:00 p.m. : Monday to Friday
- You can buy:
hot and cold drinks and sandwiches (prepared on the premises), biscuits, sweets etc, newspapers, magazines, books, greeting cards, gifts and flowers and a selection of toiletries

Starting 7:30 a.m., you can take breakfast in the small café next to the boutique.
The boutique is operated by volunteers. They are happy to take your order by phone and bring it to your room.

The Cafeteria (in-house: 36.86)
- The cafeteria is located on the first floor of the outpatient clinic. With its friendly and bright atmosphere it is the right place to take your family and friends for light snacks and warm meals. Luncheon plates and fixed menus change on a daily basis.
You can either reserve a table at the cafeteria or order your choice of menu to be brought to your room. Phone number: 02/541.36.86 (in-house line: 36 86).
In the afternoon a choice of sweets accompanied by tea or coffee is at your disposal.
- Opening hours Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. 18:00 p.m.
Television
Every patient floor disposes of a TV set in the lounge.
Public phone booths
Phones operating with coins or magnetic phone card are available on
- the ground floor (121 and 125 Bd de Waterloo),
- the hospitalization hall
permitting local and international calls.

The library on wheels
On Monday between 14:00 h p.m. 17:00 h p.m. volunteers will come to your room where you can choose from books and magazines to be returned at an agreed time.
Le "Room Service" des Amis
Une équipe de personnes bénévoles parcourt les chambres des 7 étages de l'hospitalisation, offrant le café ou le thé et un petit biscuit, vendant à ceux qui le désirent une petite douceur et échangeant avec tous un mot et un sourire.
Ce service est offert par les "Amis" tous les jours de la semaine, du lundi au vendredi, entre 12h et 17h30.
Your personal Mail 
Mail is being distributed every day. You can hand your letters to the office of the head nurse of your floor. To make sure mail sent to you arrives promptly, please remind your friends to label letters accurately :
