Alice au pays du Cancer (Alice in ‘Cancerland’).
This album speaks of a sorrowful but topical subject. It allows the child to grasp the reality – ‘Cancerland’ – and to accept it. It is also an invaluable ‘friend’ in the relation that patients and their relatives have with cancer.

Alice is peacefully living in Wonderland until her daddy announces her that her mummy had to leave for ‘Cancerland’. The little girl wants immediately to meet up her mummy in this unknown and mysterious land, but her daddy answers it is not a place for children. However, Alice is worried and very impatient to see her mummy, so she decides to go alone to this strange land.
As this moving and sensitive story goes by – lived through Alice’s eyes – the reader will discover that the strength of the imaginary can be the key to the recovered harmony between child’s innocence – Wonderland – and the ravages of life.
Martine Hennuy and Sophie Buyse both work for the association ‘Cancer et Psychologie” which aim is to be with and help people suffering from cancer, as well as with their family and relatives.
