Bordet'n Family
Why a space intended for families ?
The onset of cancer and its treatments have a knock-on effect on families. Almost 30% of children whose the parents have a cancer, have disorders such as nightmares, school problems, and isolation with respect to their schoolmates, along with sadness and fear. Teenagers are the most vulnerable. That is the reason why children and their family need a moral support.
So « Bordet’n Wellness », from "Les Amis de l'Institut Bordet" decided to create an unit in the bosom of Psycho-Oncology dept. That unit helps the patients and their family circle handle the repercussions of the disease on parent/child relationship. Psycologists , who have been trained to look after children, keep the unit.

"Alice au pays du Cancer" (in French) Alice in ‘Cancerland’ (by Martine Hennuy, Sophie Buyse and Lisbeth Renardy) helps the child to grasp the reality – Cancer’s land – and to accept it. The album is also an invaluable friend in the relation that patients and their relatives have with cancer.
