One of your relatives is hospitalised at the Re.S.I. ?
The surgical intensive care unit is located on the 5 th floor.
A team is in charge of providing a series of cares the unit proposes.
This team consists of :
- a head intensivist
- a head nurse
- a medical doctor assistant RE.S.I. ( anaesthetist- resuscitation doctor)
- nurses, physiotherapist, secretary
The doctors of the unit are at your service.
If necessary, the nurse will fix an arrangement with the doctor.
Visiting hours :from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm +6:00 pm to 7 : 00 pm

Recommendations regarding one day admissions for surgery/endoscopy under anaesthesia ( ambulatory anaesthesia)
- The day before the surgical operation
Eat and drink light in the evening
If necessary, you may be given a sedative
- The day of the operation
- it is necessary to be fasting : no food, no liquids (minimum 6 hours) : you need to have an empty stomach before a surgery
- if you’re taking some medication, you can take them with a sip of water (generally, you must take them till the day of the surgery, except for few cases)
- to have a wash, to freshen up
- yo must be lifted to the hospital before and after surgery by a trustworthy adult.
- yo may be given a premedication for anxiety. However, this is not a systematic procedure. (discussed with the doctor)
- After surgery,
your are taken for a short stay in the recovery room (30 to 60 minutes), and then in a room for 1 to 3 hours.
Your anaesthetist and surgeon decide together whether you may leave or not
REQUIREMENTS :
- DO NOT go back alone at home and do not stay alone at home
- Provide to have a medical contact in case of problem (your usual doctor, for example). The hospital provides night doctors. (night anaesthetist : 02/ 541.36.14, night surgeon : 02/541.31.32)
- Do not drive a car for at least 24hours after anaesthesia. Indeed, anaesthesia effects can last for 24 hours and blunt reflex.
- In case of rachianaesthesia (peridural), do not stand up for a few hours after surgery. If suffering headaches or if you feel dizzy, lay down again and hydrate (drink a lot of water). If the effects persist after 24 hours, please contact your doctor or the anaesthesia unit via the secretariat (02/541.36.03). |
