Orthopaedic Surgery

Mission

The missions of orthopaedic surgery :


Surgical treatment :

- Primary benign and malignant bone tumors, especially located in the extremities
- Primary soft tissues tumors

 

Treatment of secondary bone tumors (metastases)

with the goal of pain relieve and restoration of function.

 

Surgical treatment of the complications related to medical treatment in cancer patients.

(e.g.: aseptic bone necrosis, musculotendinous retractions, algoneurodystrophy, etc.)

Osteosarcoma : before and after resection and recontruction by prosthesis
Osteosarcoma before and  after reconstruction
a) A 15 years old patient with an osteosarcoma of distal femur
b) Situation after resection and reconstruction by a metallic prosthesis
a) A 14 years old patient with an osteosarcoma of distal tibia
b) Reconstruction by a transplant of a vascularized fibula taken from the contralateral limb
c) Hypertrophy of transplanted bone 2 years later
