Senology Unit
Mission
Senology
covers diagnosis of all breast diseases and especially cancer.
It includes a clinical examination, mammography, ultrasound and magnetic resonance sometimes.
Senology involves a systematic screening in asymptomatic patients and the most engineered diagnostic procedures:
- microbiopsies under ultrasound guidance,
- DR-guided stereotaxy (a mammography technique which makes use of a particular examination table and a computer in order to detect an injury to within about a millimetre).
Microbiopsies are carried out under local anaesthesia and require the use of different kinds of devices and puncture equipment.
