Consultations
Technical Examinations (Preparation)
Echography of the Prostate
(performed at the urology consultation)
What should you do before the examination ?
- You may eat or drink before the examination.
For your comfort as well as for a better visualisation of your prostate, it is preferable, though not obligatory that :
- you perform a light enema two hours before the echography to empty your rectal bulb (for example use Fleet Enema for children; those enemas are available without prescription in pharmacies)
- You have to have a full bladder, so do not urinate before your appointment
The echographic examination
After having been examined by the urologist, a radiologist performs an endorectal echography of your prostate.
You are lying on one's side, the doctor introduce slowly an echographic probe through the rectum. He coats the probe with gel before he introduces it; that eases it.
This allows to study your prostate with ultrasounds. Contrary to the radiography, you will not have any radiations.
Where do the consultation take place ?
The consultations take place on the 3rd floor of the polyclinic, 121 boulevard de Waterloo
