Technical Examinations (Preparation)

- Examen du corps total à l'iode 131 (Iodine 131 total-body exam)
- Bilan complet de la thyroïde à l'iode (Complete thyroid examination with iodine)
- Scintigraphie thyroïdienne simple au technetium (Simple technetium thyroid scintigraphy)

Iodine 131 total body examination

Medication :
stop taking any thyroid extract 15 days before the examination.
Food precautions :
not eat fish or other sea product 15 days before the check-up.

Instruction :
- on the 1st day: administration of a small dose of iodine 131 on an empty stomach
- scintigraphic examination 6 to 7 days later

 

Complete thyroid examination with iodine

Medication :
stop any thyroid drug 15 days before the check-up.
Food precaution :
do not eat fish or any sea product 15 days before the examination

Instructions :
the patient has to be on an empty stomach on the 1st day.
Check-up is staggered over a period of 1.5 day :
- the first day : morning and early afternoon
- the following day : beginning of the morning.

 

Simple technetium thyroid scintigraphy

Medication :
stop taking thyroid extracts or thyroid antagonists15 days before the examination
Food precautions :
no fixation product or sea product at least ten days before the examination

Instructions :
- patient does not have to be on an empty stomach
- duration 1 to 1,5 hour
