Screening Clinic

Mission

Cancer Prevention
• Primary prevention

This section consists in the measures taken in order to avoid the development of avoidable cancers.
- Fight against smoking,
- Warnings against excessive sun and sun bench exposures,
- Respect for safety instructions in occupational environment,
- Advice to have balanced diet : eat more fruit and vegetables, reduce fat and alcohol in your diet.
- fight against sedentariness and excess weight.

• Secondary prevention or detection

Detecting cancer means detecting it before symptoms appear. The aim is to highlight the lesions at an early stage in order to give an effective treatment and to reduce the death rate.

The screening showed its utility only for certain kinds of cancers. It is not yet possible to detect all of them precociously.
A screening test only highlights the lesions existing when it is carried out. This is why it is strongly recommended to consult a doctor if one or more warning signals appear.
