Nurses specialized in advice and wellness nursing at the Jules Bordet Institute seek to conserve and improve the body image and well-being of patients with cancer or having had cancer. This support is aimed at the well-being of patients. It is provided in cooperation with other Institute actors (coordinating nurses, doctors, social assistants, psychologists, etc.) and is proposed for both outpatients and hospitalised patients.
We provide patients with information and advice in connection with the side effects of treatment:
- Information concerning alopecia (loss of hair)
- Advice, handling and administrative procedures relating to hair prostheses (wigs)
- Advice and care on skin, scalp and nails
- Make-up advice and sessions
- Advice, handling and administrative procedures relating to external mammary prostheses and adapted underwear
- Advice and care concerning prostheses and scars
We offer Institute patients the following well-being and relaxation care:
- Massages to relax various areas of the body (scalp, face, back, legs/feet, arms/hands)
- Face care
- Manicures (hands and feet)
- Make-up for a healthy complexion
This care is available for both outpatients and hospitalised patients
This information, advice and care is offered to the Institute’s patients in accordance with their needs and at the request of the multidisciplinary team.
We offer, at the request of nursing students, observation placements within our team for students whose final dissertation is on a subject relating to our activity.
We invest in guiding final dissertations that relate to our activities and also in promoting our role within the various Schools of Nursing.
Some members of our team participate actively in training future nurses specialized in advice and wellness nursing.

Our specific experience allows us to provide added value while we continue to develop our skills in the various fields of “well-being” so as to best meet patients’ needs.
