Together, Let’s Care for Our Care Environments
Violence — whether verbal, physical, or psychological — has no place within our healthcare institutions. Through a new prevention campaign, the H.U.B aims to strengthen awareness of the importance of respecting healthcare professionals, patients, and their loved ones.
A Reality on the Ground That Calls for Vigilance
Healthcare teams are increasingly confronted with situations of tension and various forms of violence, ranging from incivility to verbal or physical aggression. Such behaviours not only affect professionals but also undermine the quality of care and the overall care environment.
Through this campaign, the H.U.B clearly reaffirms its position: no form of violence, threat, or discrimination towards patients, visitors, or staff will be tolerated within its institutions.
Supporting Teams in Their Daily Work
Because a calm and safe healthcare environment is a shared responsibility, the H.U.B provides its staff with a range of support tools and resources.
These resources are designed to help teams better manage tense situations, identify appropriate responses, and know where to seek support in the event of an incident, particularly through internal reporting procedures.
Training sessions and workshops are also offered to strengthen skills in conflict management, violence prevention, and communication in sensitive situations. These initiatives form part of a broader, ongoing commitment to supporting workplace well-being and preventing occupational distress.
According to Ophélie Amelin, Staff Psychologist and Head of the H.U.B Well-being Unit:
"Behind every caregiver and every employee, there is a face, a voice, and a story. Making violence prevention a priority means recognizing the value of each individual and affirming that everyone deserves to carry out their work with respect, dignity, and safety. Protecting those who care for others means preserving the most valuable asset within our institutions: people."
Raising Awareness in Healthcare Settings
In addition, a communication campaign is being rolled out across the various H.U.B institutions. Visual materials in the form of stickers will gradually be installed near elevators, in waiting rooms, and in other areas identified as particularly sensitive.
These awareness messages aim to reinforce a fundamental principle: any form of violence is unacceptable in our healthcare settings.
By strengthening this collective awareness, the H.U.B reaffirms its commitment to fostering an environment that is respectful, safe, and focused on delivering high-quality care.
