Rates: contracted or non-contracted doctors

Every year, doctors sign an agreement with the INAMI [the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (NIHDI)] stating whether or not they accept the INAMI rates. If they accept them, the doctors are called “contracted”. If they do not accept them, then the doctors have the status “non-contracted”.

Non-contracted doctors can then set their rates as they choose up to 300% of the INAMI rate.

By contrast, there is no limit set to an expert opinion.

The supplement required is not reimbursable by the health insurance company, but can sometimes be reimbursed by your additional insurance.
