ICPO Foundation visits Institut Jules Bordet to strengthen collaboration in precision oncology
A day of fruitful exchanges between international experts and the Institut Jules Bordet team, marked by presentations on the latest advances in theranostics and discussions on future collaborations.
On October 3, 2024, the ICPO Foundation (International Centers for Precision Oncology) visited the Institut Jules Bordet in Brussels for a day focused on innovation and collaboration in the field of precision oncology. Welcomed by Professor Patrick Flamen, Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Imaging and Radionuclide Therapy, the ICPO Foundation representatives discovered recent advances in access to radiomolecular precision oncology treatments.
The day was highlighted by a keynote address from Professor Richard P. Baum, President of the ICPO Academy for Theranostics and Trustee of the ICPO Foundation. His talk, entitled “Navigating the present and future applications of Theranostics”, highlighted the potential of personalized medicine, captivating the audience of 100 participants, including Drs. Anne-Leen Deleu, Ayça Arçay Öztürk and Martin Manley, members of the Institut Jules Bordet team.
The discussions continued with a tour of the Institute's nuclear medicine department, giving participants an overview of current projects. The expanding ICPO Foundation is strengthening its international network of certified precision oncology centers, promoting the sharing of knowledge, standards and high-level training.
The visit ended on an enthusiastic note with a lively brainstorming session, where Professors Baum and Flamen, accompanied by their respective teams, explored promising avenues for collaboration and research. New opportunities are emerging to strengthen ties between the two institutions in the future.
