Cancer does not end when treatment is over. For many Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA), life after cancer is a period of transition that raises many questions: returning to school or work, persistent fatigue, social life, future plans, fertility, mental health, physical activity, and long-term medical follow-up.
As part of Red September, the AYA Team at the Jules Bordet Institute and Onco.care invite you to an afternoon of presentations, discussions and networking focused on life after cancer.
This event is open to all adolescents and young adults who have experienced cancer, regardless of their diagnosis, as well as their families and friends, students, healthcare professionals, and anyone wishing to gain a better understanding of the specific challenges faced by young people after cancer.
Following a series of short presentations, participants will be invited to take part in a World Café, an interactive discussion format designed to encourage dialogue between patients, relatives, healthcare professionals, students and members of Aïda, the French partner organisation of the AYA team. Everyone will have the opportunity to share their experiences, ask questions and contribute to a collective reflection on the needs of young people after cancer.
During the afternoon, participants will also discover the initiatives developed by Aïda to support young people after cancer, including Highway to Health, the AYA Academy, and Trëma, its new community space dedicated to life after cancer.
The aim of this event is to create a welcoming environment for listening, sharing and dialogue, where every experience matters and everyone can help improve support for young people after cancer.
