Immunotoxicity management: a reference centre for rapid and personalised treatment

The Immunotoxicity Management Competence Centre is a centre specialised in caring for patients treated with immunotherapy, an innovative treatment in the fight against cancer. While immunotherapy permits major progress it also brings a major side effect, known as immunotoxicity. This can affect any organ and is complicated to manage.
Why consult our centre?
Pre-immunotherapy assessment: For patients with auto-immune or auto-inflammatory diseases bringing an increased risk of immunotoxicity when receiving immunotherapy, we make a pre-immunotherapy assessment and, if necessary, put into place preventive monitoring during the immunotherapy.
During the immunotherapy: We intervene when an immunotoxicity is suspected or confirmed to adjust the treatment and manage the complications.
After the immunotherapy: Our team also acts to assess whether a further course of immunotherapy can be envisaged following the appearance of side effects.
- Multidisciplinary support: Our immunotoxicity experts cooperate closely with the oncologists and organ specialists at the Jules Bordet Institute and Erasmus hospital to offer comprehensive and personalised treatment for each patient.
- Long-term follow-up: In some cases the side effects of the immunotherapy can become chronic. We provide continuous monitoring to adjust the treatment in line with the development of the immunotoxicity.
For who?
- Patients receiving immunotherapy at the Jules Bordet Institute or Erasmus Hospital.
- Patients external to the H.U.B who require a specialised opinion on complications associated with the immunotherapy.
How to make an appointment? If you are receiving immunotherapy and you have side effects, or if your oncologist suspects an immunotoxicity, your oncologist can refer you to our specialised consultation. We also give opinions to external patients.
